Inspiration

Ok, so I said I was going to do the baby card thing, but I just can't get into it for some reason! I made a whopping total of: one. Woohoo. I guess the new pile of paper that I bought just doesn't inspire me to do the baby thing! I am actually working on making a bunch of Mother's day cards. This is a big event for card makers like me!

I am also have a time pulling my nose out of a book...Harry Potter actually! I'm hooked! My oldest has read and reread them so many times, and I just laughed at him, but now here I sit. The weather has been perfect for that, raining, snowing, cuddle-up-with-a-book weather. Now, on to book 6!

Teeny Tiny Baby Card!

I was asked by a friend of mine to make a couple of little cards for some boxes that she has. She sells soap at Etsy now! She fills the boxes with a couple of bars of soap, and then adds a card to go with it. I made these baby cards for her, and decided to list one too! If you'd like to take a peak at her shop, it's called, BarNoneProducts.

Etsy Vs. HandmadeFuzion

Today I wanted to see a little test. I listed a baby card on Etsy, and another baby card on HandmadeFuzion at the same time.

First, I am going to write a few pros and cons about the 2 sites.

HandmadeFuzion:
Pros:

  • I can load all the pictures at once.

  • After listing, the item scrolls across thr front page right away. In fact, it will stay there on that scroll until 25 more items are listed. (Now I realize there are way more items being listed on Etsy, so even if Etsy did that, my item wouldn't be on the front page for long!)

  • You can feature your item on the front page for only 50 cents. (I did not do that with this card that I listed.)
Cons:

  • Listing an item is more complicated. There are more steps to it, however, I'm hoping that since this is a new site, the kinks will get worked out, and things will change.

  • Not a well known site, so I am not sure how many customers are there!

  • The site seems a little hard to navagate yet.
Etsy:
Pros:

  • The listing process is simple. I don't know, maybe because I am so used to it? But there are not that many steps.

  • The site is visited more, so there are more buyers here.
Cons:

  • There is a 4 minute delay on the item you just listed to make it to the front page. I did time it, and for this particular item, it was only 2 minutes. Not bad!
  • I've always had a beef with the picture loading process...I really want to be able to load all my photos at once!
Anyway, I listed at 9:41 am. At 9:45, I had 1 view at HandmadeFuzion, and 3 views at Etsy.

10:00 am:
Handmade: 18 views

Etsy: 3 views.

**Update: 2:30 pm. Etsy: 11 Handmade: 39

**Update again! 6:30 pm. Etsy: 15 Handmade:47
10:45pm Etsy: 17 Handmade:48

So, there are a lot more views there. Not sure what this means for sales. I didn't have any in either store. I will continue to list at HandmadeFuzion for now though.

I will keep you updated throughout the day! In the meantime, here are the 2 cards that I listed. (The first being the one that I uploaded to Etsy, the second to Handmade.)

Choo-choo card

This cute little baby card is so fun! I love the train and the animals on this one. I has this one listed for a few minutes about 10 days ago then thought the pictures needed fine tuning, so it went into edit mode. Now it's back in my shop, and in desperate need of some views! If you need a baby card, come check this one out...or the other selection that I have!

I feel like a new woman!

I just got my hair cut! Yay! I've had it long for a year and a half, then I got it cut about a month ago. Well, I didn't like that look so well, so I went back in, and chopped it off!! Hopefully I will be able to figure out how to do it now, that always takes me awhile. ;)

Anyway, my newest card is a baby card. I fell in love with this paper while in the scrapbook store! I actually bought the baby boy line of it about a month ago, but didn't see the girl paper. When I went back in and saw it, I just had to have it! The little animals in pinks, purple, yellow, and brown are so cute! I love pink and brown together, so the coordinating paper had to be bought too! The soft pink ribbon really tied the whole thing together.
Also, please take a look at my treasury that I made yesterday. Here is the link- click on it to see the great sellers that I have included. While you are there please give it a little love will you?! Even just a comment would be great!http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=37493

Step Two

So today I went ahead and sent the 10 cards out to Moco! (The postman questioned the "twiddlestix" that I had written on the envelope. ;) A little explaination was necessary!) The cards in the picture are the ones that I sent out. They look a little blurry, but that is because they are all in cello bags, ready to get put in the package! According to the owner, I have the option to sell the same cards in my Etsy shop. As you can see from the photo, I have most of these cards in my shop already. Not sure if that was a great idea or not. I just sent what I thought were some of my best work.

I want to thank the readers who have gave me encouragement with the consignment. I love reading the comments, and I need the happy thoughts! Thanks!!
